Samsung Galaxy S II vs HTC Sensation - Shootout

shootout

Now that I have got both the Samsung Galaxy S II (herein referred to as SGS2) and the HTC Sensation (herein referred to as HTC), I can do a thorough comparison between these two beasts. They are the two most powerful Smartphones available now. I am going to go through different (bolded) areas and give each one an edge as to who wins out in what I am testing and then overall add up the total scores for the winner of this shootout. I will also give you my opinion on which phone I liked and why.

Airplane Mode - iPhone 4 vs Samsung Galaxy SII

Since I travel a lot I decided to test how the Airplane Mode works on both of these phones. I’m sure most of you already know the frustrations of getting to an airport only to be waiting a looong time before you get any of the roaming mobile networks signal.

As soon as I landed in Kuala Lumpur I decided to turn the Airplane Mode off on both phones and the signal searching started. The iPhone 4 took close to 5 minutes.. Yes 5 blinking minutes before it found the Malaysian Mobile providers. In contrast the Samsung SGS2 found the signal in just over a minute and a half. Thats quite impressive although I would think it has more to do with the Android OS than the phone.

The iPhone 4 has one of the worst signal searching of any phone I know esp when you roam and even when it finds a signal it loses it quickly and starts the whole search for signal again.

Winner: Samsung Galaxy SII

Samsung Galaxy S II vs Apple iPhone 4

I have now played with the Samsung Galaxy S II now for about 2 weeks and I must say that it has become my primary phone.

The things I like about the S II:

* A gorgeous Super Amoled Plus screen with vivid colors and the blacks are fantastic
* Very very customizable. You can pretty much customize the heck out of this phone.
* Super thin. I mean this phone is extremely thin and light compared to the iPhone 4.
* Some great widgets available. From the Android market you can download all kinds of widgets and some of them are very cool.
